Congratulations Karl Norwood

BEDFORD NH - NAI Norwood Group would like to congratulate Karl Norwood on receiving two awards at the 2nd Annual NHCIBOR Commercial Real Estate Awards. Karl was honored with the award for Suburban/Rural Deal of the Year which was for the disposition of the former Chester College in Chester, NH. The Industrial Sale of the Year award was given for the sale of 655 S Willow Street in Manchester NH. This was the former OSRAM Sylvania building which was comprised of 15 acres and over 300,000 SF.

NHCIBOR’s 2nd Annual New Hampshire Commercial Real Estate Awards were held on June 6, 2016 at The Puritan Backroom Function Facility in Manchester, NH. This event provides incredible recognition and publicity for the commercial real estate market and community in New Hampshire.  It is also a fundraising event for NHCIBOR Cares as a 501c3 organization.  Last year this event netted over $6,000 that was distributed to local non-profits throughout the state.

NAI Norwood Group Completes Sale of Former Chester College

Chester NH – NAI Norwood Group is pleased to announce the final sale of the former Chester College of New England. The parcel(s) contained four buildings totaling approximately 50,000sf, containing dining facilities, classrooms, library and dorm room space. The sale closed on August 28, 2015 in the amount of $1,530,000 according to the NH Registry of Deeds.

The buyer was Busch International, Inc. In addition to seeking accreditation from the State of New Hampshire, the school is hoping to make improvements to the campus. The company’s spokesperson, Lei Wang, said, “The campus will be used as a private school and it is planned to open in May 2016.” The private education facility will attract students from across the globe. Approximately 200 students ranging in grades from 7-12 will be living and going to school onsite with yearly rotating enrollment.

Chester College closed its doors in May 2012 as a result of the declining enrollment in a recessed economy. NAI Norwood Group’s Karl Norwood, Chris Norwood, and John Hoben, began marketing the campus in its entirety soon after the doors closed. Two parcels, each with significant buildings, were sold and repositioned quickly, prior to this most recent transaction.. NAI Norwood Group was pleased to have found an educational use for the remainder of the campus.

NAI Norwood Group Announces Sale in Chester NH

Chester, NH – NAI Norwood Group is pleased to announce the sale of 20 Chester Street in Chester, New Hampshire. Two buildings totaling 10,115± SF were part of the sale by, Chester College of New England. The transaction closed on December 17^th and sold for $225,000, according to the Registry of Deeds. NAI Norwood Group represented the seller, Chester College of New England.

This is a 2.81 acre parcel of a former classroom and photo studio owned by Chester College of New England. The buyers received a variance from the town to place their antique business Bittersweet Blessings (www.bittersweet-blessings.com) in the property.  "This was a win-win-win, for the town, the school and the buyers", Chris Norwood of NAI Norwood Group commented, "it was great that the town worked with the buyers to keep this business in Chester, which we think preserves the village feel of the town.”  NAI Norwood Group continues to market the balance of the property, a 70 acre 5 building campus with library, dormitories and classroom space. There are many opportunities for reuse and redevelopment of the former Chester College campus in Chester New Hampshire. 

The small New England liberal art campus underwent substantial renovation in the mid 2000’s with numerous improvements in many of their buildings. Most of the upgrades were directed to code, life safety and energy enhancements which brought the campus up to date. The single largest and most recent expansion was the 2002 construction of Preston Hall, a 23,000± SF modern student residence hall.
