NAI Norwood Group to Market Chester College of New England

Chester, NH – NAI Norwood Group is pleased to announce they are currently marketing Chester College of New England in Chester, New Hampshire. Karl Norwood, John Hoben, and Chris Norwood, all of NAI Norwood Group, are the brokers and advisors to the college. The college recently closed its doors following May’s commencement ceremony. Prior to closing the school was home to some 200+/- art students each year with offerings including a full library, art space, dormitories and kitchen.

There are many opportunities for reuse and redevelopment of the former Chester College campus in Chester New Hampshire. Chester is a quintessential small New England town, a ten mile drive from New Hampshire’s largest city of Manchester and a fifty mile drive to Boston, Massachusetts. The campus is located seven miles from Interstate 93 and nine miles from NH Route 101.

The small New England art campus underwent substantial renovation in the mid 2000’s with numerous improvements in many of their buildings. Most of the upgrades were directed to code, life safety and energy enhancements which brought the campus up to date. The single largest and most recent expansion was the 2002 construction of Preston Hall, a 23,000± SF modern student residence hall.

The campus sits on two lots, and is offered for sale either in its whole or in parts, subject to sub-division. NAI Norwood Group is currently marketing the college with five different scenarios in which their sister company Real Living The Norwood Group has been brought in to market two residential properties. One of these properties being Douglas Hall.

Douglas Hall, formerly the Governor Bell House, was first built by Ebeneezer Flagg around in the mid 1700’s. The main house wasn’t added as the Governor Bell House until the early 1800’s. The Queen Anne style home can be purchased separately from the college campus as well as other buildings on the campus. The Bell family was very well known not just in Chester but throughout the state of New Hampshire as four generations of Bell family men served as governor.

“There is substantial infrastructure that is in place. We are hopeful that the end buyer or institutional user can make use of the large gathering facilities and dormitories,” said Chris Norwood, Executive Vice President, NAI Norwood Group.
